KTF Debuts HSUPA Service in Korea
June 22, 2007
Ahead of competitor SK Telecom, Korea's KTF announced its commercial HSUPA (High-Speed Uplink Packet Access) service in major Korean cities including Seoul, Busan, and Dajeon on June 14, 2007, the Korea Herald reported. Boasting faster data uploading speed than HSDPA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access) technology, HSUPA enables a maximum uploading speed of 5.6 Mbps. KTF will provide the HSUPA service using USB-type devices initially, and the nationwide service is expected to commence in October. In addition, the company is scheduled to launch the mobile phone-based service in the first quarter of 2008.
